ATLANTIC PLUMBING
Washington, D.C.
MOLD PREVENTION
KEM contracted with Plaza Construction to provide moisture intrusion management and mold prevention services during the construction of this multi-family residential property owned by JBG Smith.
KEM provided monthly inspections for water intrusion and mold during the course of construction, and provided supplemental inspections after significant weather or water events. In addition to inspections, KEM provided training for Superintendents and Project Managers on the project to heighten awareness of the dangers of water intrusion during construction.
2017 - 2019
EMERSON COURT
Dallas, Texas
MOLD PREVENTION
Our first project in Dallas, KEM provided moisture intrusion inspection and mold prevention services during the construction of this 406-unit apartment complex. Our team also provided training for CBG Building Co. project managers and superintendents about the pitfalls of water intrusion during construction.
KEM inspected the project continuously during construction to assure that moisture intrusion was controlled. As the project neared completion, KEM provided testing of every unit to assure that all materials exhibited normal moisture content and provided mold in-air testing to document that there were no mold concerns in the building as it was turned over to the owner. The project was Certified Mold-Free upon delivery.

LUMEN AT TYSONS

KEM was contracted by Lennar Multifamily Construction to provide moisture intrusion management and mold prevention services during the construction of this multi-family residential property. Our team provided monthly inspections for water intrusion and mold during the course of construction. We also provided supplemental inspections after significant weather or water events. The project was Certified Mold-Free upon delivery.
In addition to inspections, KEM provided training for Hoar Construction Superintendents and Project Managers on the project to heighten awareness of the dangers of water intrusion during construction.

NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART
Washington, D.C.
ASBESTOS

KEM provided Certified Industrial Hygienist and Field Industrial Hygienist services for this Grunley Construction Company renovation project.
The project involved asbestos abatement related to asbestos-containing building materials that were impacted by the renovation efforts. KEM provided supplemental sampling throughout the project, as previously unidentified materials were encountered. Our team provided review of contractor workplans, and monitoring and clearance for all asbestos abatement activity during the project.

RICKOVER HALL
Annapolis, MD
ASBESTOS
LEAD DUST
KEM worked in support of John C. Grimberg Co. during a renovation of this classroom and lab building at the United States Naval Academy.
Our team designed and oversaw asbestos abatement involving ductwork and mechanical equipment in the building.
KEM also designed a lead dust clean up program for the crawl space of the building, and provided clearance sampling of the crawl space floor as abatement work was completed.

Arlington, VA
MOLD PREVENTION
KEM contracted with B.F. Saul Co. and worked with Clark Construction to provide a comprehensive moisture intrusion and mold prevention program during the course of construction. KEM provided monthly inspections for water intrusion and mold during the course of construction of the 485-unit apartment complex, including supplemental inspections after significant weather or water events. The project was Certified Mold-Free upon delivery.

COLUMBIA PLAZA APARTMENTS
Washington, D.C.
ASBESTOS
LEAD
This apartment facility, located adjacent to the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., consists of five residential buildings and a large retail complex containing restaurants, shops, stores, and other services. KEM conducts regular asbestos surveys and lead-based paint surveys in support of an Operations & Maintenance Plan written in the early 2000s. The plan includes written abatement specifications, project management, and air monitoring during asbestos abatement activities throughout this complex. KEM’s work at this property continues today.
FBI HEADQUARTERS
Washington, D.C.
KEM worked with Grimberg during a renovation that converted 3 floors of former laboratory space into general office space. Laboratory decommissioning included clean-up and decontamination of lead, mercury, explosives, and other heavy metals before other construction could begin.
KEM provided additional services to decontaminate the firing range in the building.
